To Whom It May Concern:

The Bethesda Chevy Chase Rescue Squad is preparing to hire to fill open full AND part-time vacancies in the Day Crew (paid positions) for persons qualified as ambulance EMT OIC (“aid person”), emergency ambulance drivers, paramedics, and heavy apparatus minimum staffing and emergency drivers. This employment with BCCRS is fully funded by the LFRD. Individuals may work on any BCCRS unit at Stations R1, 26 or 7. For RS driver positions, experience on a rescue squad or special service unit is preferred. All persons MUST have MCFRS IECS certification appropriate for the position. BCCRS employs both Fire/Rescue and EMS (only) certified individuals. Individuals with riding status at other MCFRS departments will follow an expedited check out procedure . Openings are primarily daywork hours, but evening and weekend work is sometimes available on a scheduled or sign-up basis as it comes available.

Salary depends on qualifications and the position accepted and is determined by an established matrix. Preference in hiring may also be given to individuals who express a willingness to undertake training for new qualifications they do not currently have. The full-time schedule is 4- 12-hour shifts per week so there is an 8-hour bonus each week. There may be a requirement for some weekend work which may be 12-hour or 10-hour shifts.
