Maryland Fire Service Joint Venture Letter to Save Maryland State Police Aviation Command Services
As many of you already know, the Maryland Board of Public Works approved the annual budget which included the closure of a Maryland State Police Aviation Base and the selling of one of the AW-139 medevac helicopters. Allowing this to occur would cause a serious hardship to not only the citizens of Maryland, but also to the Maryland fire, rescue and EMS services, as well to the law enforcement communities.
The Maryland Fire Chiefs Association (MFCA) came together with the Maryland State Firemen's Association, the Metro Fire Chiefs Association and the Professional Firefighters of Maryland (IAFF) crafting a letter to the Board of Public Works, which includes the Governor, the Comptroller and the Treasurer adamantly opposing any reduction of services within the Maryland State Police Aviation Command Program. The MFCA would like to thank our partner organizations for taking the time to come together for this most important cause. Please find the attached letter for your review.
In closing, we still need you, your family and the members of the public to reach out to your state Senators and Delegates to let them know your concerns and opposition with regard to allowing any type of reduction of the Maryland State Police Aviation Command's services. In the event you do not know who the Senators or Delegates are for your area, a link has been included below to assist you with locating this information.
