It is with profound sadness that we notify the department of the death of Active Life Member and Past Assistant Chief James A. “Jimmy” Kiernan on November 5th, 2025. Jimmy joined the Berwyn Heights Volunteer Fire Department on May 1st, 1987 where he has faithfully served in an active status for the past 38 years. During his tenure, Jimmy held all ranks from Lieutenant to Deputy Chief, most recently serving on the Board of Directors. Jimmy was an institution at Berwyn Heights, well known and loved by all. Jimmy was a mentor, teacher, coach, and above all, friend. His unwavering dedication and commitment to the department and the community will ensure his legacy as a fireman lives on for many years to come.
