Scholarships Now Open for Staff and Command Course

The Maryland Fire & Rescue Institute in cooperation with the International Association of Fire Chiefs will be holding their 2024 National Fire Service Staff & Command Course March 3-8, 2024, at the Doubletree Annapolis, in Annapolis, Maryland. Attendees of the program will explore current and evolving concepts in fire/EMS service management, leadership, and administration. The Maryland Fire Chiefs Association’s (MFCA) Training Committee through our joint SAFER grant is sponsoring ten scholarship opportunities. The scholarship will reimburse scholarship recipients up to $2,075 for the conference registration. To qualify you must have a current volunteer affiliation. To be eligible for lodging to be included you must live more than 50 miles (one way) from the Doubletree Annapolis.

The National Fire Service Staff & Command Course will identify and solve current management issues with leading fire service experts. Featuring nationally renowned fire service speakers, this intense five-day program provides in-depth analyses of current and evolving issues in emergency services management. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss and debate major issues facing fire/EMS departments while learning from experts in the field. Scholarship recipients will be required to submit a copy of their registration receipt and certificate of completion at the conclusion of the conference for reimbursement. As part of the reimbursement process, attendees will be required to provide the MFCA Training Committee with a one-page synopsis of what they learned in the course and how they will share such information with their department and/or jurisdiction.
